BUTCHIE'S OTHER GRANDDAUGHTER

"What are those great big things?"
Coming upon rolled bales in the neighbor's field, Bess decided they were not to be trusted.

I remember the first time we saw hay in the rounds--it was back in the midwest in the early '80s and we were amazed.

Did you creep up on them and sniff them to see if they were alive?

LOL! No, we were whippin' by on our way to John's so we kept moving. :-)

That's a photo I'd love to get printed. Wish it didn't have the date stamp in the corner. I really like those blades sticking up in the foreground. Bess looks so thoughtful and the scenery is beautiful as usual.

I didn't think it was the greatest photo -- taken from shadow into light. But -- the subject is cute. I'll send you the photo and you can make your own decision.

At one point, I coaxed Bess up to a bale. She sniffed all around it and then bounced back out to the road. In subsequent walks, she ignored the bales.
