NEXT UP: SPRING?

Crocus
Daffodils
I took the camera and toured our yard today for signs of spring. No matter how hard the winter has been – and this winter has been cold with ice and snow – by mid-February, signs of spring begin to pop out.

A few things await my attention
And that’s about all I have to say today. This winter wasn’t particularly productive in terms of completed projects. I try not to dwell on that because it isn’t – well – it just isn’t productive. If I worked for a company, I know they would press me to show something for my time, but I’m retired, you know, and nothing much pushes me.

Dogs never worry about accomplishment
And I believe we can’t always count progress tangibly. Perhaps the most important steps we take are unseen to the human eye – hours of prayer, overcoming sadness and grief, supporting those in need, etc. Short days and long nights are conducive to self-examination and deep thinking.

But enough of that. The daffodils and crocus bring their message of renewal. Onward! KW

I was happy that you posted a blog. Even if it was a blahg. Today has been one of unaccomplishment for me, too. We are expecting about 10 degrees cooler the next few days. Not much to report from here, either. The ailers have been better, and nothing has been worthy of report. Your spring will spring, and your days will become more productive, I'm sure.

Blahg! -- I love it. Sometimes that's just the way it is. Glad to hear from you, too.

I really have been busy. I wrote a summary of the year's activity for P.E.O., finished committee assignments, wrote the agenda for yesterday's meeting, etc. And all of that took time. I'm good at running the washing machine and the dishwasher, and Mike helps with meal planning and prep.

I, too, love blahg!! LOL

The weather here has not been conducive to feeling energetic. We've had snow, rain, thunder, dark grey clouds, and general blah. Good time to curl up with a blanket, something warm to drink, and a good book or a hand craft.

Hi Chris!

Yes, the weather is not conducive to energy. I like to get up in the morning, but it's so cold that I end up sleeping in. Then I feel like the day is half gone. And that's why we make quilts and afghans in the winter. The project keeps us warm -- if it's big enough.

I have bluebells coming up all over! They are basically a weed to me. They are difficult to get rid of because you have to dig really deep to get the bulb. Oh well. It was sunny for part of Saturday, so I did a bunch of weeding. Good for the soul, bad for the back.

Yes, some bulbs can become weeds. I remember Mother digging and digging the "star of Bethlehem" in her yard. She dug down and showed me the mass of bulbs and how difficult it was to remove them all. Then she admonished me never to plant it.

You just have to work along at the removal gently and consistently.
