Thursday
was a good day because the eyesore container necessary for storage of household
contents during renovation was finally removed. It was emptied in January, and
it’s totally understandable that they didn’t come to get it during winter and mud
season, but we’ve waited at least a month. With persistent calls from the
contractor, the company finally showed up – just one guy. (I’ll just call him
the “container tech.”)
The
removal wasn’t easy. I have many more photos of the process than Blogger will
support. The initial lift took many tries.

Mike
finally went to help the container tech, operating the hydraulic lift while
the tech lurched the truck. I was surprised the tech let Mike help because it seemed
a little dangerous to me – you know, as we think of danger and liability these
days – but Mike said that he needed help. And apparently the guy thought so,
too.
Even
after it was lifted onto the trailer, the container was still sitting too far
back, so the tech drove it to that first steep pitch on the lane, where he
managed to slide it forward.
It's great to be able to see the little shed and the north field from the kitchen window again. KW

Yay! Are you feeling most settled in by now?
Yes, we are feeling settled, though we still seem to find plenty to do. Yesterday we put away the stuff in Hallie's room. Today, I hope to set up my sewing machine.
