In a
phone conversation with my mother-in-law Bennie one winter when my children were
small, she asked if we had had the flu. “No,” I said, “but then, we haven’t
been anywhere.”
“That’s
the key,” she said. “Stay home.”
I thought
of this today in light of the fact that the Arkansas governor was pleading
ignorance with regard to the effectiveness of staying at home. Wise Bennie was
a life-long Arkansan. KW
Yup, just stay home. On the other hand, I was making the bed today and saw my neighbor out working in her yard and hollered at her. Told her it was exciting to actually see someone! She walked over and we visited through the window. She didn't know she couldn't haul her yard waste to the recycling center, so I guess I saved her a trip although she was bummed.
ReplyDeleteAs we walked the neighborhood a couple of days ago, I suggested we knock on the door of a neighbor who is a P.E.O. sister. She and her husband are self-quarantining for 14 days after returning from Arizona. I felt sure she would like to see us. She also loves dogs, so I knew Bess wouldn't be an annoyance. So, I knocked and she came out on the porch. We had a good visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the landfills and recycle centers are a hot subject these days.
She was also a nurse.
