Here's a comparison of how the fields changed between July 3 and July 12. The before photos are on the left with the corresponding after photos on the right. (Yes, I know they aren't quite the same. Close enough!)
Yes it IS mid-July, but I still think this heat ripened the wheat quickly. Mike asked the farmer if harvest would be early, and he said he hoped so. He would like his teen-aged sons to be able to drive combine.
Everything is turning golden up here, too, but then I guess it is the middle of July.
