UP AND RUNNING

Technicians relit our gas appliances at 9:20 this morning. As soon as the water was hot, I ran the dishwasher and then tackled that mountain of laundry. Tonight we will enjoy our showers. Tomorrow I will do two more loads of laundry.

I'm glad it's over. Moving on. KW

Glad you're back to operational! We got lit late yesterday afternoon and as soon as possible I ran the dishwasher. We had kept a big stockpot of water warm on the stove and Dan helped me wash my hair in the kitchen sink by pouring a pitcher of warm water over my head so at least I had been able to do that. Like you, I realized that compared to many, many in the world, our "problem" was no real problem. I washed my hair with water we could actually drink.

Whenever I read about Ma in her kerchief and I in my cap, I am reminded of the luxury to be warm. I am grateful to not need to wear a hat to bed! I am glad that you were all able to weather the time without gas without too much discomfort.

I don't wear a hat to bed, but I have taken to wearing socks. I sleep better if my feet are warm. And when it's really cold, I pull a shawl over my neck and shoulders.

I was amused that the local newspaper interviewed the homeless for tips on staying warm. Layer your clothing, use extra blankets, and double your tent were among the suggestions.
