We’ll all be children and have a lot of fun out of it. – Ina
“What did you do, or what did your
mother do, to make Christmas magical?” asked a Facebook friend. It’s a
thought-provoking question, and I think Ina had the key. It’s a matter of culturing
our inner child. “Let Christmas be a feeling in your heart,” as the song goes.
Ina understood this, but as I read her pre-Christmas words, I sometimes wonder if she wasn’t trying to convince herself that it would be fun. And then after Christmas she said more than once, “I stood it all just fine.” So, I know some Christmases must have been difficult and brought meltdowns. To Ina’s credit, she truly wanted to get through it just fine, and she did. KW

I like the lights and the Christmas specials on TV (though we only stream things now). I always liked doing the advent calendar. I like the preparations of the season.
The Christmas specials on TV aren't what they used to be. TV has changed and most everyone streams. We see few advantages in that, but it has affected programming, which is dismal.
I have to say that even the preparations of the season have changed. We went out shopping yesterday, and I was disappointed in the lack of holiday spirit. I used to like to buy holiday napkins, paper towels, and hand soaps. I see no decorative paper goods, and I finally found the soap at Albertsons on the bottom shelf where the Christmas decorations are.
Fruitcake items are sold out now, if they were ever available, and if you want mincemeat, it looks like you have to buy online at a premium or make your own. I'm opting to make my own.
