Well, September evaporated in a blur of Mondays that quickly became
Fridays. I think the late Labor Day made the month seem shorter. Wasn’t Labor
Day just last week? No?Teakean Butte

Each season brings adjustments, but some are easier than others. Right now, daily highs are still in the mid-80s, but it takes all morning for it to reach that. Even so, man and beast feel the heat as they hunt in the mornings.
· Dressing appropriately for the entire day seems impossible. What works in the morning is too warm in the afternoon. I’ve learned to layer.
· Laundry on the clothesline will dry in the sun, but about 3:00, it begins to “draw moisture,” as Mother used to say, and it’s counter-productive to leave it on the line.
· A blanket on the bed is too warm for us, but it cools off in the night.
Mike and I cope in the same way – warmer pajamas.
Assuming I will be successful in posting photos here, I took them last Sunday afternoon as I walked west of the farmhouse to the canyon rim. Bess started to go with me but before long made her apologies and went back to the house. Nellie would never have acted like that. Nellie was my faithful companion, and I miss her terribly sometimes. Such gorgeous photos!!
Why do the canola fields look so dark, compared with the wheat fields? It looks like they have been burned.
I was surprised to discover comments here. I didn't receive the usual email notifications. Guess I'd better check settings.
Thanks for the compliment, Chris. And Chuck, I agree that the harvested canola fields appear dark. I don't know why. It was late in the day, so perhaps it was shadow.
You know, I’m not sure I got a subscription email from this post, but I definitely did for the most recent one, so I could be wrong.
We’re in the same weather awkwardness here. I may turn the heat on in there morning and then feel guilty in the afternoon when I get too hot and crack a window open. Thank goodness for the less costly natural gas heating that we’re on now.
I'm not seeing consistent notification on the comments, but I did receive notification of your comment here. I know they're making changes to Blogger. Posting photos isn't perfect but has improved. We can look it over when you're here.
I think you should have heat in your house when you need it, even if you have to open a window later. It's important to be warm enough. But -- these difficulties will soon fade away with cooler weather.
